Description

Diesel Anti-Bug Fuel Additive

Exocet Anti-Bug is a powerful diesel fuel additive designed to eliminate and prevent microbial contamination, commonly known as diesel bug, in diesel storage tanks and fuel systems. Its fast-acting formula targets bacteria, fungi and other microorganisms that can develop in stored diesel, helping to maintain fuel quality and protect tanks, pumps and engines from contamination. Suitable for both preventative treatment and existing infestations, 5 litres of Exocet Anti-Bug can treat up to 100,000 litres of diesel at the protection dose or 25,000 litres at the kill dose.

  • Fast-acting treatment within 24–36 hours
  • Helps protect fuel tanks against corrosion
  • Prevents the growth and recurrence of diesel bug
  • Kill dose: 5 litre treats 20,000 litres of diesel
  • Protection dose: 5 litre treats 100,000 litres of diesel
  • Helps prevent blocked fuel filters and pipework
  • Suitable for diesel storage tanks and fuel systems

How to Tell if Your Diesel Tank Is Contaminated

Diesel bug contamination can develop in fuel storage tanks, particularly where water and moisture are present. Identifying the early warning signs is important to prevent damage to fuel pumps, filters, engines and other fuel system components.

  • Common signs of diesel bug contamination include:
  • Fuel filters blocking more frequently than normal
  • Blocked fuel lines, pipework or tank outlets
  • Increased corrosion inside steel diesel tanks
  • Sludge or sediment accumulating within the tank
  • Restricted fuel flow or fuel pump starvation
  • Reduced engine performance or loss of power
  • Difficulty starting engines or maintaining smooth operation

What Does Diesel Bug Contamination Look Like?

One of the most common signs of diesel bug contamination is the appearance of a slimy black, dark brown or light brown substance within the fuel tank. This sludge can accumulate around tank outlets, fuel filters and pipework, restricting fuel flow and causing repeated blockages.

Exocet Anti-Bug is specially formulated to tackle microbial contamination in stored diesel fuel. By targeting the microorganisms responsible for diesel bug, it helps reduce sludge formation, prevent recurring filter blockages and protect fuel systems from potential damage.

Eliminating Diesel Bug from Fuel Tanks

Exocet Anti-Bug Diesel Fuel Additive is formulated to both eliminate existing microbial contamination and help prevent future infestations in diesel storage tanks.

If left untreated, diesel bug can cause significant problems, including blocked filters, corroded tanks, damaged pumps and contaminated fuel lines. In severe cases, contaminated diesel can also affect the engines and vehicles being refuelled.

Regular preventative treatment helps maintain diesel fuel quality, particularly in agricultural, construction, transport and industrial applications where large volumes of fuel are stored for extended periods.

Protection Dose – Treats 100,000 Litres

For preventative treatment, Exocet Anti-Bug is used at a dosage ratio of 1:20,000, meaning 5 litres of additive can protect up to 100,000 litres of diesel fuel.

This preventative treatment is designed to inhibit microbial growth and reduce the likelihood of diesel bug developing within the fuel storage tank.

The protection dose is particularly beneficial for diesel tanks where fuel is stored for long periods or where condensation and moisture may increase the risk of contamination.

Kill Dose – Treats 25,000 Litres

Where diesel bug contamination is already present, Exocet Anti-Bug can be applied at a higher concentration using a 1:5000 dosage ratio. At this treatment rate, 5 litres of additive treats up to 25,000 litres of contaminated diesel. This concentrated treatment is designed to eliminate the microorganisms responsible for diesel bug, with the product’s stated treatment period of approximately 24–36 hours.

Exocet Anti-Bug targets a broad range of microbial contamination, including bacteria, fungi and yeasts. It helps restore microbiological control within the fuel storage system, reducing the risk of further contamination, corrosion and fuel filter blockages.

Approved Diesel Fuel Additive

Exocet Anti-Bug is designed for use in diesel fuel storage and handling applications, including agricultural machinery, commercial vehicles, construction equipment and industrial fuel systems. The product has been associated with approval claims involving leading manufacturers and organisations, including Mercedes-Benz, DAF, MAN, Deutz, NATO and Shell. Any specific manufacturer approvals or endorsements should be verified against current official product documentation before being advertised.

Exocet Anti-Bug provides an effective solution for treating diesel bug contamination and maintaining the quality of stored diesel fuel.
